Sri Lanka Immigration Arrival Card – General Information
The Sri Lanka Arrival Card Online was implemented by the government as an electronic immigration form that enables simple formalities for those who want to cross the Sri Lankan border by sea or air. Now, immigration services are mostly digitalized, which eliminates many forms that should be presented.
Travelers need to submit the Arrival Card within 7 days before the planned journey to Sri Lanka. The form can be completed in a few minutes. To do that, you should share information about the travel and personal details, such as name, surname, date of birth, nationality, etc. Then, pay the fee and wait for the confirmation sent by email.
Printing out the confirmation is not needed, as the Online Arrival Card links directly to the passport number. That’s why your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. When you arrive in Sri Lanka, you need to show documents to the immigration officers during the check.
Important: The Online Arrival Card is not the eTA equivalent. You need to prepare for your trip and collect all the necessary documents in order to cross the border in Sri Lanka without problems.
Who must have an Arrival Card for Sri Lanka?
Travelers who are planning to visit Sri Lanka by sea or air must complete the Arrival Card. It is pretty simple. You just need to enter the necessary information, cover the fee, and wait for the confirmation sent to the email address.
There are no exemptions from the submission of the online Arrival Card. Everybody crossing the border needs to complete the form and provide a valid passport.
When is it necessary to complete the Online Arrival Card?
The Sri Lanka Online Arrival Card must be completed within 7 days before the planned arrival in Sri Lanka. The Card can be completed on our website earlier, but the application will be processed closer to the date of the travel.

What information should I provide on the Sri Lanka Card?
The information listed below needs to be shared in order to receive an Arrival Card to Sri Lanka:
- name and surname
- passport number
- gender
- date of birth
- ship name or flight number
- arrival date
- phone number, email address, etc.
- address of accommodation

Important Information
- All travelers who want to visit Sri Lanka need to complete the Arrival Card (minors who travel on their parent’s passport must also have it).
- Legal guardians and parents should complete the Arrival Card for their children.
- Your passport must be valid for at least six months if you want to travel to Sri Lanka and complete the required forms.
- The travel purpose of the visitor needs to be the same as was declared in the form.
- The extension can be made by the Department of Immigration and Immigration in Battaramulla, so you should contact them for more information.
- There’s no need to print out the Arrival Card to Sri Lanka because the form directly links to the passport number.
